Ultenic T10 Lite assessment: Little trooper who loves cleansing a lot you may love him like a brother

I wanted a vacuum cleaner but I didn’t bargain on getting a part of the family. But five minutes into taking the Ultenic T10 Lite out the box, I knew that I had both. And if you like family additions that solve problems and don’t create them (rare, I know), then this little fella is for you.

Well, I say fella. For me it’s a boy. It wanders around, busying itself in its own little way, knocking into things and getting stuck like any teenage lad. But it’s got a girl’s voice.

For the purposes of this article she’s a he though. I won’t tell you what I call him* but let’s get some things straight, this little fella is a trooper. No sassy comments or humorous asides like a 70s robot here. Just cleaning and knocking into things (I’ve mentioned this twice, so get used to that).

And he’s off… Vince has been turned on and is away to do what he loves best

So apart from that what are you getting then? Well ‘he’s’ a 32cm circular robot who loves cleaning. Can’t get enough of it. You feel sorry for him when you wander past him and he’s not cleaning. He’s just sitting there, waiting to hoover up, quietly hoping in his own robotic way you drop some toast or a crumpet.

There are of course a lot of technical stuff when it comes to the Ultenic T10 Lite – but I don’t understand it. So let’s keep them things simple. Straight out the box he maps out the area of your home in a few minutes, then pops back in his liar to recharge.

Then you switch him on and leave him to do his stuff. I have a smallish one-bedroomed flat that goes from hard floors to tiles and carpet.

Bathroom tiles? No problem to this little trooper

Switch this guy on and he covers it all in an up and down movement, taking about 25-30 minutes to do the whole lot. He’s even got a little mop and sweeper as he diligently goes from the kitchen to hall, to bathroom, living room and bedroom before trundling back to his charging station to empty himself (loudly) and get some juice for next time.

But it’s the random nature of his sojourn that sticks in the memory. Yes, you could just leave him to it as you go out to the shops, but where’s the fun in that?

Glancing at him busy himself around the home while watching telly is an underrated joy. Especially if he manages to get stuck on/in something, which is quite rare – but I did pull a pair of pants from his mucky grasp a few nights ago.

And here’s the best bit. At the end he wanders back to his charging station and empties himself into a three litre deep container. I’ll be honest, I don’t know how big or small that is, but it’s not filled up yet so happy days all round.

Yes, I wanted him to have more personality. Maybe a little more attitude. But as a nonsense aid, he really can’t be beat.

*He’s called Vince
