Arsenal have confirmed that Gabriel Magalhaes will be out for the rest of the season with injury.
The Brazilian defender was substituted just 16 minutes into Arsenal’s 2-1 Premier League win over Fulham on Tuesday in another injury blow.
An update on Gabriel’s injury has been released by the Gunners, who confirmed he will miss the rest of the season in a major blow to Mikel Arteta.
The statement read: “Further to being substituted during our match against Fulham on Tuesday, we can confirm that Gabriel Magalhaes has sustained a hamstring injury which requires surgery.
“Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days, and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season.

“Everyone at the club will be fully focused on supporting Gabi to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.”
Arsenal fans reacted to the news of X, with one user saying: “This season is just cursed. One step forward and then we take 3 steps back. Such a bad luck year.”
A second added: “Kiwior vs M’bappe. It’s so over man. We’re done.” While a third wrote: “Will remember this season forever. RIP my superteam. We were simply cursed.” Another raged: “What’s the point anymore??? Just end the season, and start pre season for next season.”

Gabriel has been a rock for Arteta this season in the heart of defence amid an injury-hit season that has hampered the Gunners. The 27-year-old has captained the side this season and has five goals in 42 games.
It’s bitter news for Arsenal who host Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday. Arteta had only welcomed Bukayo Saka back to action with a goal against Fulham after almost four months out with a hamstring injury.
