More than a million sausages and burgers are expected to be snapped up by barbecue-loving folk, as well as 2 million ice creams as we bask in the spring heat and dust off our grills for the first time this year.

Supermarket giant Iceland says it is expecting a huge 100% sales jump on all things summer starting today. A spokesperson said: “BBQ-ers of Britain, the time has finally come.

Bosses expect to clock up a whopping three million miles over just three days, delivering BBQ essentials. An Iceland spokesperson continued: “During sunny spells, our same day service is incredibly popular.

“Most BBQ-ing decisions are made in that mid-morning spell, when the sun really starts to break out.”

Kathryn Chalk, a Met Office meteorologist, said: “With strong winds and ongoing dry/warm weather this brings a continued likelihood for wildfire conditions through the period.

“We can’t be specific on locations due to the nature of wildfires though, and best to stick with the weather conditions with the dry air, breezy and warm conditions, hence the warning, with slightly cooler conditions with the onshore breeze along eastern coasts.”
