Brits are set for a sudden chill later this month, with forecast maps predicting a dramatic temperature plunge, sending some areas plummeting to as low as -1C. The WXCharts forecast reveals the UK’s weather is due to take a frosty turn by 6am on April 23.

Recent warm spring weather will make way for a sharp cold snap, with inland and rural areas bracing themselves for a potentially icy wake-up call. Frost may even form in some areas, marking a stark contrast to April’s milder start.

According to data from WXCharts, many areas will dip to 0°C or below. Some regions will see temperatures hovering between -1°C and 0°C, leading to potential frost and a chilly start to the day, particularly in sheltered rural areas.

However, not everyone’s predicting a UK-wide cold snap. The Met Office differs, predicting mixed weather from April 17 to 26.

Their forecast says: “Much more mixed weather conditions than of late, with low pressure systems and their associated areas of rain and showers often affecting the UK”, reports the Express.

“Gusty winds, risk of hail and thunder, and large amounts of cloud are expected. Temperatures will probably be close to the average or slightly above for the time of year.”

The jury’s still out on whether Britain will be getting the thermal jumpers out again or staying relatively mild. One thing’s for sure, though – the weather’s due to get a lot more interesting.

Later in the period, the Met Office admits there’s a chance we could be looking at “more settled, drier but perhaps cooler weather.”

Don’t chuck your brollies just yet, folks! Despite whispers of an Arctic nip nipping at parts of Blighty next week, expect a classic British mishmash of meteorological moods – from frosty starts to soggy mid-days and the occasional burst of sunshine.

Met Office chief meterologist Andy Page said: “Warm and dry weather continues for much of the UK this week, but we’ll see a shift in where the highest temperatures will be over the next few days.

“Those living along North Sea coasts, who have so far had generally lower temperatures and more cloud at times, will start to see the higher temperatures on Thursday, possibly reaching as high as 23C in eastern Scotland and northeast England. This is due to a shift in the dominant wind direction from the east to the west.”
