A football star has been found dead after he was arrested following a fatal ‘hit and run crash’, according to reports in the US.
Kyren Lacy, 24, has reportedly taken his own life. Lacy was considered one of the top prospects coming out of college football ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.
The wide-receiver was arrested on January 13 after a warrant was issued by local police over a December 17 car crash that killed a 78-year-old man.
He was charged with was charged with negligent homicide, hit-and-run driving with serious injury or death and reckless operation with accident and due in court on Monday.
According to Louisiana State Police, Lacy was driving a 2023 Dodge Charger around noon on December 17 when he “recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed”.

However, Lacy’s driving forced the driver of a Kia to swerve left to avoid a crash, which forced the car onto the other side of the road where there was a head on collision in which the 78-year-old man was killed.
According to WAFB, an American outlet, a family member has confirmed Lacy has passed away.
Lacy had played for LSU’s football team for three years – having played high-school football Prior at UL-Lafayette for two years.
In December, Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.
However, due to his arrest, Lacy was not invited to the NFL combine to showcase his talents, but he did recently participate in the LSU pro day in Baton Rouge.
Lacy had caught 58 passes for 866 yards and nine touchdowns in 2024.
