A tragic video posted on TikTok shows the poor bird hanging in between the train doors as it dies before it drops on the floor between the train and the platform
A pigeon was brutally killed after its head became trapped between two train doors on a train in London.
The pigeon was apparently shooed away by a female passenger before it reentered the train and tragically got caught between the closing doors. A video posted on TikTok shows the poor bird – who had stopped flapping its wings – hanging in between the doors as it dies.
The cameraman, busk1976, can be heard saying: “I think he’s very much alive”. But after poking the poor bird – which still has its wing raised – it becomes clear it’s lifeless. The creature’s wing then flops down, but the man tries to initiate a response from it anyway.
A train announcement then says: “We will shortly be arriving at Waterloo East.”
The bird continues to hang lifeless from the doors, next to a warning sticker urging passengers to mind the closing doors.
Another passenger suggests when the doors open they should kick the bird off as she “doesn’t want to go anywhere near it.”
As the train pulls into the platform, she says: “Oh dear, oh dear.”
The cameraman adds: “Right, we’ll just wait for the door to open and find out if this pigeon is alive or dead.”
The door then opens and the poor bird falls and hits the edge of the train with a thud before falling in between the gap between the train and the platform – much to the horror of an elderly oncoming passenger.
The cameraman explains to him and a staff member: “He got his head caught in the door – he got his head shut in the door.”
As he says “it’s clearly… yeah”, he zooms in on the dead bird lying on the ground before thanking the staff member.
He then laughs as he says: “Well, that’s a YouTube video… it’s dead, poor sod.”
The same video was then posted on YouTube by user BUSKA IN THE PARK.
Commenters on TikTok had mixed responses to the incident.
One said: “When the pigeon dropped its wing I was like ‘ah hes dead’ the moment it fell through the gap i couldn’t hold in my laugh.”
But another commented: “That’s just so sad if I saw that I would open the door I don’t care about the fine.”
One provided an explanation for the pigeon’s flapping wings, saying: “The pigeon would’ve been killed as soon as those doors closed on its head the flapping you saw a few seconds after would have been a result of muscle spasms.”
