Girl, seven, discovered on the road with a knife ‘threatening to stab different youngsters’ – earlier than police escorted her residence

A seven-year-old girl was found on the street with a knife after allegedly threatening to stab other children in the neighbourhood.

Police were called to a residential area in Southampton following reports of the young girl brandishing a knife in broad daylight.

Residents in Millbrook took to social media after the girl was seen with the knife on Monday at around 4.30pm in Studland Close.

One local told MailOnline the girl was carrying a ‘large kitchen knife’ and that she ‘had a lot of children taunting her’ at the time of the incident.

They added that girl is ‘often outside until late at night alone’.

While one resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said they saw the girl running on the road ‘threatening to stab other children’.

They told the Daily Echo: ‘If this is your child can you please teach her how to behave or keep her indoors.

‘Someone is going to end up seriously hurt with her behaviour and attitude towards other people.

‘Just to warn other parents don’t let your children play in this close as they’re at risk of being seriously hurt.’

Another person posted online saying that the girl ‘left to her own devices outside all hours day and night’ and is ‘constantly causing problems and being anti-social’.

‘Out of sight out of mind I’m guessing for some parents. But someone is going to end up seriously hurt with her behaviour and attitude towards other people,’ the post added.

Hampshire Police confirmed they attended the incident and returned the girl home after finding her with a knife.

A police spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 4.25pm yesterday afternoon to a report that a girl had been seen on Studland Close in possession of a knife.

‘Officers attended and located the girl, who is seven-years-old, and returned her home. Follow-up work will be done with her parents.

‘Nobody was injured as a result of this incident.’
