West Ham have sacked Graham Potter after a horror start to the season, with the former Chelsea boss paying the price for the club’s poor form
Nuno Espirito Santo is poised to be named as Graham Potter’s successor. Potter was dismissed by West Ham United just days ahead of their Premier League encounter with Everton and the former Nottingham Forest could be in charge for the Monday game.
The Hammers currently sit 19th in the league table having secured just three points from a potential 15, and according to The Times, they have struck a deal for the ex-Tottenham and Wolves chief to replace Potter immediately.
Potter suffered a challenging beginning to his tenure at the London Stadium, with this campaign intensifying the scrutiny on his position. Losses to Sunderland, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Crystal Palace have prompted widespread demands for his dismissal.
It’s unclear who will oversee Monday evening’s journey to Goodison Park bit multiple sources now say that Nuno will be in charge.
A club statement confirmed: “West Ham United can confirm that Head Coach Graham Potter has left the Club.
“Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations, and the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.
“The Club can confirm that Assistant Coach Bruno Saltor, First Team Coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, Lead Goalkeeper Coach Casper Ankergren, and Goalkeeper Coach Linus Kandolin have also left with immediate effect.
“The Board would like to thank Graham and his coaching staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future.
“The process of appointing a replacement is underway. The Club will be making no further comment at this time.”
Rumours are swirling that Nuno has been in talks with the club’s board about stepping in. Potter has been feeling the heat since the 3-0 loss to Sunderland on the opening day, with fans chanting “you don’t know what you’re doing” at him last week.
“I understand we’re in a tough situation,” he admitted after the defeat to Palace. “We want to do better than we are and at the moment we’re not.”
