Residents are warned to remain indoors as a number of individuals shot and emergency crews rush to a property in Sydney’s interior west

An emergency situation is unfolding in Sydney‘s inner west as tactical police and paramedics rush to the scene of a suspected shooting.

Residents have been told to stay indoors following the suspected shooting which is understood to have begun about 7.30pm on Sunday. 

Police have not yet confirmed whether anyone has been shot. 

‘A police operation is currently underway at Croydon Park after shots were fired,’ NSW Police said in a statement. 

‘The area has been locked down with Georges River Road closed between Croydon Avenue and Seymor Street and Brighton Avenue closed between Georges River Road and Queensborough Road.

‘Specialist resources are attending, and the public is urged to stay inside, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

‘Further information will be provided when available.’
