Gerwyn Price has brushed off worries about his dramatic weight loss, declaring he feels and looks better than ever.

The darts star has dropped three stone over the past six months, a transformation he believes has sparked his resurgence at the oche. Price, who currently leads the Players Championship Order of Merit following four tournament victories this season, disclosed that he’s downsized from XL shirts to medium.

Price, who made headlines lately for his support of Reform UK, puts this change down to steering clear of fast food after competitions, choosing instead to hold off eating until the next morning.

On Saturday morning, Price posted a shirtless mirror selfie from a Fitness Factory gym on his Instagram account. “Concerned about my weight loss?” the caption reads.

“Well don’t be, I feel and look better than ever.”

His message comes after remarks from darts commentator Damian Vlottes and former world champion Vincent van der Voort, who questioned his appearance following the European Championship in Dortmund.

“I thought it was a kid in his shirt,” Vlottes observed.

“There’s nothing left of him. You can’t really comment when someone’s overweight, so let’s be respectful when someone’s underweight too – but he’s lost a huge amount.”

Van der Voort added: “He used to have a lot of muscle; he was massive. Now he looks like a kid! Pretty soon, he’ll be getting beaten up by Bradley Brooks [the 25-year-old former world youth champion].

“He used to be so broad, always in the gym, but he’s gone too far now, he really should put some weight back on – this isn’t good. It’s not that I’m worried about him – for all I care, he can lose even more – but it’s meant as friendly advice.

“I’d tell him to eat a bit more. He owns a fish and chip shop, so that shouldn’t be a problem!”.

Price will be one of the favourites to win the 2026 Darts World Championships which kicks off in late December with the Premier League starting just a few months later.
