Armed police shutdown UK road as houses evacuated with emergency providers on scene

Emergency services have swarmed a residential street this afternoon. Arncliffe Road in Halewood is currently sealed off, with Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service all present.

A number of police vans, a fire engine and an ambulance are all at the scene. The nature of the incident relates to a domestic incident. ECHO reporter Jamie Greer is on-site and will be providing the latest updates, reports the Liverpool Echo. One man who lives on the street said: “Police have been here for hours. Everyone has been evacuated out of the block.

“I heard arguing earlier I went out for a job. On my way back, I saw police flying down Macket’s Lane and thought, I bet they’re coming here.”

A worried dad walking past Arncliffe Road said: “My son lives in one of the flats there. They’ve told him he can’t go back in. They’re right by his bedroom window.”

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: “We can confirm officers are currently in Halewood today, Monday 3 November. At around 10.20am we received a report of report of a domestic incident inside a flat on Camborne Avenue. There is no wider concern to the public.

“Officers are still at the scene with road closures in place in surrounding area. We ask people to avoid the area for your patience while we dealt with this incident.”

Arriva said bus services 3 and 3A will have their route altered due to the cordon. Writing on X, the bus company said: “Due to incident on Arncliffe road services 3/3A will omit camberley drive/Arncliffe road and use mackets lane in both directions until road reopens.”
