After a new age restriction set for explicit online content, many Brits have been struggling – but a new study suggests that some cities have been hit harder than others
The horniest city in the UK has been revealed in a new study – with the area being dubbed the most “porn obsessed city” in the country. Topping the list, Newcastle has been branded the randy northern city, with residents averaging 629,260 searches monthly.
This is over three times the city’s population, according to online pharmacy MedExpress, who have noticed the alarming rise of PIED (porn-induced erectile dysfunction) in UK men. The study also found that porn is fully integrated into British society, revealing that more than four in five men in the UK (82%) watch it, and 34% first accessed pornography before the age of 15, some even before the age of ten.
No Nut November is just around the corner, encouraging many to let go of their desires and break the porn habit. However it seems for many, lasting even a month could be tougher than they think.
The study also revealed that one in four (26%) don’t think they could give up watching porn for 90 days if they tried. This appears to ring true for Newcastle in particular, with well over 629,260 searches over one calendar month.
Put another way, that’s around 3.3 searches per resident every month, or almost 40 searches per person each year.
Wells in Somerset ranks second (2.9 searches per person per month), followed by Manchester (2.5).
The north and south divide rings true, with four of the top five highest porn consuming cities are in the North of England.
At the other end, Cambridge is the least porn-obsessed city (0.06 monthly searches per resident), followed by Nottingham (0.08), Newport (0.09), and Carlisle (0.15).

To explore the impact of porn on the nation, MedExpress surveyed 600 men across the country to uncover how porn is impacting men and spotlight the extreme behaviours behind Britain’s growing dependency.
Over a third of UK men (36%) have watched porn in public, including 17% at work, 14% in public bathrooms, and 5% on public transport. Adding to this, 38% of men also admit they are watching porn during work hours.
Dr Sophie Dix explained: “This data is concerning and suggests that consumption is moving beyond casual pleasure into dependency, increasing the risk of sexual health issues such as porn-induced erectile dysfunction (PIED) and other mental health issues.”
Further impact is also suggested, with 59% of people saying porn has negatively affected their sex life and relationships. More specifically, 64% believe it has contributed to ‘pied’ – porn induced erectile dysfunction, with 14% citing it as the main cause for their ED.
