Attacker on free after younger girl stabbed in park sparks main police incident

A woman has been stabbed in North London as police hunt for her attacker. Met Police officers rushed to Elthorne Park in Islington just before 9pm yesterday (November 3) following reports of a the knife attack.

Pictures taken at the scene today (November 4) show a large police presence still in place with tents put up to preserve evidence due to the weather conditions. There have been no arrests at this stage of the investigation, MyLondon reports.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “At around 8.55pm on Monday, November 3, police responded to reports of a stabbing in Elthorne Park, Islington. Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended the scene and a woman in her 20s was treated for stab wounds.

“She was taken to hospital and we await an update on her condition. No arrests have been made at this early stage and residents can expect to see an increase in officers in the local area while enquiries continue.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101 or online, quoting CAD7669/03NOV. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 8.54pm last night (November 3) to reports of a stabbing in Elthorne Park. We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene.

“We also dispatched an advanced trauma team in car from London’s Air Ambulance. We treated a patient at the scene and took her to a major trauma centre as a priority.”

The news comes after we reported how a hero rail worker whose actions saved multiple lives during a mass stabbing on board a train has today been praised. Samir Zitouni, 48, who has worked for London North Eastern Railway (LNER) for more than 20 years, remains in hospital following the attacks. on board a train in Huntingdon on November 1.

David Horne, managing director at LNER, said: “In a moment of crisis, Sam did not hesitate as he stepped forward to protect those around him. His actions were incredibly brave, and we are so proud of him, and of all our colleagues who acted with such courage that evening. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Sam and his family. We will continue to support them and wish him a full and speedy recovery.”

His family said in a statement released through LNER: “We have been deeply touched by the outpouring of love and kindness shown to Sam, and by the many well wishes for his recovery.
