London Underground in chaos as a number of Tube strains down sparking main delays

A major transport network has been thrown into chaos this morning (November 4) as passengers face delays in their commute into work .

Problem on the London Underground network could see many people late into work with three lines currently down, including the popular Elizabeth line.

The three lines currently having major issues this morning are the Elizabeth line, Metropolitan line and Piccadilly line.

Motorists in London can also expect delays this morning caused bizarrely by the CCTV not working in the Blackwall Tunnel heading northbound.

This has meant commuters are ‘having horror journeys’ into work with reports of some not moving for 20 minutes at a time.

Why are there delays on the London Underground?

  • Elizabeth line – Severe delays between Shenfield and Whitechapel following a late finish of engineering work at Romford.
  • Metropolitan line – No service between Baker Street and Aldgate due to a track fault at Baker Street.
  • Piccadilly line – No service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge all day to prevent damage to train wheels caused by expected significant leaf fall.
