Andrew Mountbatten Windsor is now confronting a despite having all his Royal titles stripped away.

It was revealed today that the King has formally removed the man’s Royal Highness status and his Prince status, which he held from birth. Charles, Andrew’s elder brother, enacted this unprecedented decision through Letters Patent.

This follows Andrew becoming embroiled in controversy over his connections to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

He issued Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm – a legal document authorised by the monarch. The document was published in The Gazette, the UK’s official public record, by the Crown Office and confirms that Andrew no longer has the right to be a prince or hold the style ‘Royal Highness’.

The entry, published on Wednesday, stated: “THE KING has been pleased by Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated 3 November 2025 to declare that Andrew Mountbatten Windsor shall no longer be entitled to hold and enjoy the style, title or attribute of ‘Royal Highness’ and the titular dignity of ‘Prince’.”, reports the Mirror.

A Royal biographer, Robert Hardman, author of Charles III: New King, New Court, The Inside Story, has now revealed how Andrew must interact with his family going forward. When questioned whether he will now need to bow to his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, he confirmed: “Yes, he probably will.”

He went on to say that Andrew is allegedly unlikely to accept this “happily” and is most probably dreading the moment when he will be publicly referred to as simply Andrew, stripped of his Prince title.

Given that he is no longer a prince or duke, etiquette requires that Andrew, now a private citizen, should bow to Royal family members who still hold their titles.

Speaking on the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential Show regarding Charles’ decision on titles, Robert said: “The King has exercised his Royal Prerogative with parliamentary and government approval; he’s talked to the Prime Minister about this.”

He characterised Charles as “the fountain of justice,” explaining that the monarch’s decision had been made following consultation at the highest level. Despite the controversy surrounding Andrew, Beatrice and Eugenie’s titles remain untouched due to their birthright.

“They are still Princesses and HRH because they are the children of the son of a reigning Monarch,” Robert said. He continued: “All along, the King and other members of the family have been concerned that the sins of the family do not befall them. They are blameless, they have led a pretty upright life and are level-headed and very nice young women.”

However, Beatrice and Eugenie are less likely to undertake Royal duties, unless summoned by His Majesty, as they are “essentially private citizens who are related to the King and occasionally turn up at royal events.”

Their titles, he explained, are safeguarded under King George V’s 1917 Letters Patent. Andrew resigned from his Royal duties in 2019 following accusations by Virginia Giuffre that he had sexual relations with her in March 2001, when she was only 17.

She alleged that she had been trafficked by Epstein and his girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell. Virginia stated that Epstein and his girlfriend took her to Tramp nightclub in London, where she met Andrew and later engaged in sexual activity with him that night.

She claimed that Epstein paid her $15,000 after her encounter with Andrew. During a 2019 interview with BBC’s Newsnight, Andrew categorically denied the allegations, telling presenter Emily Maitlis that he had no memory of ever meeting Virginia.

Andrew continues to vehemently deny all allegations levelled against him.
