Chloe Shearer, daughter of Premier League legend and BBC Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer, has announced her engagement to former rugby star Micky Young
Football icon Alan Shearer has delivered a playful three-word reaction following his daughter Chloe’s engagement to former rugby ace Micky Young.
The Newcastle and England legend‘s daughter Chloe, 31, announced the thrilling news via Instagram, sharing pictures of Young’s proposal at Wylam Brewery in Newcastle, with the caption: “Forever YOUNG”, accompanied by a ring and white heart emoji.
The Match of the Day pundit and Premier League’s record goalscorer, who bagged 260 goals in the top flight and netted 30 for England, couldn’t help but quip: “About time too!!!” complete with a heart eyes emoji.
Young, 36, a former scrum-half who turned out for Newcastle Falcons, Leicester Tigers and Bath, hung up his boots in 2024 following 201 matches for Newcastle.
While he earned caps for England Saxons and England Sevens, a full international call-up eluded him despite training alongside the senior squad.
The proposal unfolded during a charitable gathering supporting both the Alan Shearer Foundation and the My Name’5 Doddie foundation’, which raises funds for Motor Neuron disease research, reports the Mirror.
Shearer, 55, had previously endorsed Young’s testimonial year at Newcastle, making an appearance as a special guest at a football dinner.
The Shearer clan embraced the joyous couple, with sister Hollie, 30, sharing the announcement and gushing: “The bestest news ever. My sister’s engaged!”
Chloe replied by reposting with “Love you so much x”.
Brother Will, 25,also marked the engagement by sharing the post alongside multiple heart emojis. This delightful update follows Hollie’s own engagement to long-term partner Joe Marchant last November.
Similar to Young, Marchant is also a rugby star. The 29-year-old currently represents the French team Stade Francais, having previously worn the Harlequins jersey.
He’s accumulated 28 caps for England, but due to his current tenure in France, he’s not eligible to play for England.
