Woman stabbed in neck in ‘unprovoked assault’ in Birmingham as police arrest man

A woman is fighting for her life after being knifed in the neck during what officers suspect was “an unprovoked attack”. West Midlands Police rushed to Smallbrook Queensway in Birmingham just before 9pm on Friday following reports of a stabbing incident.

The victim, aged in her 30s, sustained a “serious neck injury” and remains hospitalised in a critical state. Officers detained a man in his 20s close to the scene, and he is currently being held in custody. Detective Inspector James Nix explained: “We believe this was an unprovoked attack and are working to understand why it happened.

The force confirmed: “Our officers are at the scene carrying out inquiries as we try to establish the exact circumstances of what happened.”

Anyone who witnessed the attack or has relevant information is urged to contact West Midlands Police on 101, quoting log 5503 of November 7.
