Morgan Schneiderlin was a workhorse in the Manchester United midfielder – but his partner might have come home each evening having had the tougher day.

As tough-tackling Schneiderlin was winning balls in the middle of the park, his partner, Camille Sold was stacking shelves in Manchester city centre.

Schneiderlin, who celebrated his birthday this week, enjoyed a successful 19-year career, featuring for Premier League sides such as Southampton, Everton and the Red Devils.

The Frenchman began his professional journey with his local club Strasbourg before transferring to Southampton in 2008, where he remained for seven years.

His standout performances in the English top tier caught the attention of the Premier League’s elite, resulting in a £24million move to Manchester United in 2015.

This pivotal career shift came with a significant salary increase, netting him a hefty £100,000-a-week contract. Despite the staggering figures of his new deal, his wife also contributed financially to their partnership.

Upon relocating to Manchester, the pair resided at the plush Lowry Hotel, while Camille worked on the shop floor of the city centre’s Adidas store.

The couple has been together for over a decade, their romance blossoming in early 2015. Schneiderlin proposed to the former shop assistant during a holiday to the French Riviera in 2016, and they exchanged vows the following year, reports the Express.

The Frenchman left England in 2020 after a three-year stint at Goodison Park. He subsequently played for clubs including Nice, Western Sydney Wanderers, Konyaspor and A.E. Kifisia.

Following his retirement from professional football, Schneiderlin is now working towards his UEFA A licence, the highest practical coaching qualification available, as per his Instagram profile. He’s also ventured into broadcasting, providing analysis for Canal+ Sport.

His love for sports hasn’t waned, as he’s taken up long-distance running with his wife and recently completed his first marathon at the Paris Marathon in April.

Despite experiencing life in three different countries after leaving Old Trafford, Schneiderlin admitted that he may have been too hasty in ending his stint at Manchester United.
