LNER prepare operator warns ‘don’t journey’ for entire day after main incident

A major UK train operator has issued a “do not travel” warning for the rest of the day. LNER gave an update stating the operator is experiencing major disruption between Newark Northgate and Retford, which is affecting the whole LNER route.

They updated travellers on X: “#LNERUpdate DO NOT TRAVEL We are experiencing major disruption between #NewarkNorthgate and #Retford today, affecting the whole LNER route. As a result, we are issuing a Do Not Travel notice for the remainder of the day.”

They added: “We strongly advise against any travel for the rest of the day. LNER tickets dated Monday 10 November are valid for travel up to and including Tuesday 11 November. You don’t need to change or amend your existing ticket.”

While LNER hasn’t explained the reason for the ‘do not travel warning’, there are reports from some passengers that it is due to a “broken rail”. One X user wrote: “apparently there is a broken rail hopefully they will get it fixed in tome for a friend to make his flight at heathrow tomorrow”.
