Passengers to a major UK airport may face travel delays this morning (November 10) after electricity failure has caused transport chaos.

The electricity failure is disrupting trains in and out of London Victoria station, according to National Rail.

Victoria and Clapham Junction is reportedly where the incident is causing issues as trains are unable to leave the depot.

However, the incident is causing most problems for services to Gatwick Airport and Brighton.

In a statement, Gatwick Express said: “A failure of the electricity between Clapham Junction and London Victoria is causing disruption to journeys between these stations. As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised. This is expected until 10:00.”

What has Gatwick Express advised customers?

Gatwick Express said :”A failure of the electricity supply in the London Victoria area is preventing trains from leaving the depot this morning.”

The following trains have been impacted:

  • Gatwick Express services between London Victoria, Gatwick Airport and Brighton
  • Southern services between East Grinstead and London Victoria
  • Southern services between Horsham/Dorking/Epsom and London Victoria (via Sutton)
  • Southern services between Epsom Downs and London Victoria
  • Southern services between East Croydon/West Croydon and London Victoria

Some services may be cancelled or amended, and some services may run with less coaches compared to normal. Where services are amended, this means that they may terminate and restart at a different station to normal.

Please check before you travel this morning. If your planned train is affected then you will need to take a different train than planned, or change trains en route. Please note that services are likely to be busier than usual so you may wish to consider delaying your journey until after peak time.
