Donald Trump lost his temper when asked about his name turning up so many times in the Epstein files
Donald Trump barked a shocking two-word insult at a female reporter who asked him a question about the Epstein files. The US President, taking questions on Air Force One en-route to Washington, snapped at a journalist. Jennifer Jacobs had asked about his name being mentioned hundreds of times emails sent by America’s most notorious paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein – part of a 22,000-document trove released by Congress last week.
Trump leaned forward, pointed his finger at her and shouted: “Quiet! Quiet, piggy.” Jacobs is a senior White House reporter for CBS News.
The House is expected to vote today on a bill to force the Justice Department to publicly release the files it holds on Epstein. It’s been in progress for months – and until this weekend had been firmly opposed by both Republican leadership and Trump. But despite hauling a member of Congress into the Situation Room last week in a bid to stop them signing a petition to push through the bill, Trump had a change of heart over the weekend – telling House Republicans they should vote for it.
As it became apparent that the bill will pass the House, most likely with significant support from Republicans, Trump and House Speaker Mike Johnson changed their approach from outright opposition to declarations of indifference. “I DON’T CARE!” Trump wrote in a social media post Sunday. “All I do care about is that Republicans get BACK ON POINT.”
His blessing all but ensures that the House will pass the bill with an overwhelming margin, putting further pressure on the Senate to take it up. And yesterday Trump said he would sign the bill if it passes both chambers of Congress, adding, “Let the Senate look at it.”
The push for more transparency over the sex trafficking investigation into Epstein has come roaring back since the House returned to Washington after a nearly two-month absence during the government shutdown. As lawmakers returned last week, they were greeted by new details from a tranche of Epstein’s emails, including claims that Trump had “spent hours” at Epstein’s house with a sex trafficking victim and that he “knew about the girls.”
The Mirror revealed on Saturday that author Michael Wolff had emailed Epstein a draft portion of a book, in which he claimed Trump had told friends he was “banging” his assistant in the White House. The assistant in question denied the claim, telling the Mirror: “These are absurd and defamatory accusations from a discredited writer who has been known to peddle falsehoods. The lies in this email are unhinged from reality and simply not true.”
