An Afghan asylum seeker has admitted to the rape of a 12-year-old girl in a small town in the Midlands.
Ahmad Mulakhil, aged 23, changed his plea at Warwick Crown Court today, confessing to a single charge of rape against the child in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, which took place in July this year.
However, he continues to refute a series of additional charges related to the alleged kidnapping and sustained sexual assault of the underage victim. He is scheduled to stand trial alongside another Afghan asylum seeker, Mohammed Kabir, also 23, in January.
During a brief hearing today, Mulakhil, aided by a Farsi interpreter, pleaded guilty to a single count of oral rape, reports MailOnline. At a previous hearing, he entered not guilty pleas to two more counts of rape involving the underage girl, as well as two counts of sexual assault and one count of abduction.

Kabir has also denied charges of aiding and abetting rape, intentional strangulation and attempting to take a child.
Judge Kristina Montgomery KC ordered both men to remain in custody until their next appearance before Warwick Crown Court on December 12, ahead of a trial set for January 26.
Mulakhil, who arrived in the UK crossing the Channel on a small boat, raped the victim in the Cheverel Street area of Nuneaton, between 8.30pm and 9.45pm on Tuesday, July 22.
The Mail on Sunday secured CCTV footage from a local resident’s property, seemingly showing a man accompanying a white girl.
The eerie video was recorded as the duo strolled past the house at 8pm, roughly thirty minutes prior to the alleged sustained attack on the victim. It is now understood that the girl is receiving specialist care.
Warwickshire Police confirmed that Mulakhil was apprehended four days post-incident and charged the subsequent day.
