M6 critical crash LIVE: Standstill site visitors on busy motorway as drivers face big delays

There are huge queues of standstill traffic on a busy UK motorway after a serious two-vehicle crash – with drivers being warned it will likely stay shut for some time.

The incident took place on the M6 heading northbound between junctions J2 Coventry and J3 Bedworth / Coventry in the early hours of Monday, November 24.

The link road form the M69 southbound to the M6 J2 northbound is also closed. Traffic cameras shows huge queues of standstill traffic and it seems this will likely continue into Monday morning.

Police officers are in attendance, National Highways has confirmed. Delays are likely on approach to the closure and diversion routes, the Mirror reports.

A National Highways spokesperson said: “Emergency services are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management. Collision investigation is being carried out by Warwickshire Police so the road is expected to remain closed for several hours.

“Vehicles caught within the closure will be turned around and released via the rear of the queue. Please remain in your vehicle and await instructions from traffic officers or police.”
