A person has died after being hit by a train in central London. British Transport Police were called to at 3.50pm today (November 25) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics also attended and a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner, MyLondon reports.
Emergency responders at the scene included an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, and the Hazardous Area Response Team from London Ambulance Service.
The incident initially caused “mass overcrowding” and disruption. A reporter said a message on the public address system at St Pancras Station announced that gates were closed due to “massive overcrowding” at the Victoria Line platform due to the incident.
There are now severe delays across the entire Victoria Line, especially between Walthamstow Central and Warren Street.
Tickets are being accepted on London Bus, Weaver line, Suffragette line, Great Northern, Thameslink, Greater Anglia, South Western Railway and Southeastern services.
The following lines are experiencing delays:
- Bakerloo Line: Severe delays due to a signal failure at Queen’s Park. Tickets are being accepted on London Buses.
- District Line: Minor delays between Upminster and Barking due to an earlier person ill on a train. Good Service on the rest of the line.
- Victoria Line: Severe delays due to the earlier customer incident. Tickets are being accepted on London Bus, Weaver line, Suffragette line, Great Northern, Thameslink, Greater Anglia, South Western Railway and Southeastern services.
- Piccadilly Line: The minor delays are affecting the route between Acton Town and Heathrow Terminal 5, Heathrow Terminal 4 and Acton Town and Acton Town and Uxbridge.
Passengers are warning people to find an alternative route if they were planning to use the Victoria line following major disruption.
