Tall Tory James McAlpine has hit out at a “horror show” Budget of tax rises and broken promises.

Britain’s tallest Tory, who stands at 7ft 2in, said Chancellor Rachel Reeves delivered “an hour’s worth of waffle” that achieved very little.

The 22-year-old likened the accidental early release of the OBR forecast shortly before the Budget announcement to “a trailer for a Netflix Christmas film no one asked for”.

He told the Daily Star: “As usual Labour failed to stick to their promises on not increasing taxes and instead have further increased them. Furthermore, the Conservatives got blamed for everything short of the winter weather.

“Rachel from accounts proudly declared that Labour has more than doubled the fiscal headroom required by the stability rules, a whole year early. Meanwhile, one in every £10 of public money still pays for debt interest — like a national subscription we forgot to cancel.

“The two-child benefit cap will be scrapped, but soaring rent means you may still need three jobs, a miracle, and a wealthy relative to get on the property ladder.”

He also criticised the Chancellor for failing to ditch the “completely shambolic and destructive” Family Farm Tax.

The aspiring politician recently said he wants to team up with Jeremy Clarkson to campaign for farmers as he reckons they’d be a ‘great force’ together. The Oxford Brookes student told the Daily Star he’s passionate about rural affairs and wants to be a ‘voice’ for the farming industry.

Former Top Gear star Clarkson has been a vocal campaigner for farmers and has been seen at rallies in Westminster over the past year protesting against government policies.

James said: “Jeremy Clarkson has been absolutely fantastic. He’s been a real voice of farmers.

“The amount of people he’s encouraged to go into farming is huge. I have always said we would be a great force together. I briefly met him at his pub about a month ago or so.

“He’s a really great guy, really down to earth. He’s got a lot of great ideas.”

During the Budget announcement, the Chancellor revealed the increase in alcohol prices for the coming year, affecting purchases in shops, bars, pubs and restaurants. The UK’s alcohol tax is an excise duty paid by producers and importers, calculated based on the strength (ABV) and category of the alcohol.
