A 33-year-old woman fell 80ft to her death while taking a photograph of a beauty spot from a ‘crumbling’ cliffside staircase.
Journalist Leticia Lembi was fatally injured after plunging from the cliff in Barranca de Los Lobos in Mar del Plata, Argentina, on Wednesday.
She is said to have been visiting the area with family and friends when the tragedy occurred.
Leticia was reported to have been standing on a deteriorated concrete platform and an old staircase leading down to the beach when she lost her balance and fell around 25 metres (82 feet) onto the rocks below.
Firefighters, paramedics and police officers rushed to the scene, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rescue teams confirmed the impact would have been instantly fatal and mounted an operation to recover the body from the base of the cliff as the tide advanced.
Prosecutor Carlos Russo also attended the scene and has classified the incident as an accidental death, El Pais reported.
Just hours before her death, Leticia had posted a photograph of her smiling while on a visit to a vineyard around 10 miles away from the beach.

‘Here, playing the wine woman,’ the 33-year-old wrote in an Instagram story showing her at Costa&Pampa, the country’s first ocean winery.
Leticia was from Tres Arroyos, around 170 miles away from the scene of the incident, and held a degree in Journalism and Social Communication from the National University of La Plata.
As well as her main work in digital marketing, she previously worked as a correspondent for local newspaper La Voz del Pueblo in 2020.

At the time of her death, she was working as a strategic coordinator at the digital marketing consultancy Onlera. The agency was founded by her cousin, Santiago Escudero, who was with her when the accident occurred.
In Tres Arroyos, Leticia was known not only for her professional career, but also for her love of dogs and for belonging to a well-known local family.
She posted several pictures of herself on social media posing with her dachshund.
Locals in Mar del Plata stated the staircase and concrete platform where the accident happened had long shown signs of extreme erosion and structural deterioration.
Despite warning signs about the danger of landslides on the cliffs in the area, the viewpoint and access route was still open to visitors and tourists.
