Frazer Clarke has confessed how his girlfriend was left mortified by his face-off with fellow heavyweight David Adeleye.

The two heavyweight boxers became involved in a heated exchange during a boxing event before opting to take matters outside to the car park. Clarke makes his comeback against Jeamie Tshikeva on Saturday, with the British heavyweight title bout being shown live on the BBC.

The 34-year-old bounced back to winning form with a first-round triumph over Ebenezer Tetteh in April, following his two-fight saga with Fabio Wardley. Adeleye relinquished the British title in July before his points loss to Filip Hrgovic.

However, Clarke recounted how his partner Danni-Leigh Robinson responded when he and Adeleye previously came face-to-face.

“He’s very much a talker, is Adeleye,” Clarke told The Stomping Ground. “There’s a little story, we were at a show in Birmingham we had a little bit of a confrontation. I ended up in a car park with him and his two sidekicks.”

He added: “I ended up in a car park with them because we had a dispute inside, I said, ‘We’ll go outside off-site and everything.’ I was out there for 10 minutes, all three of them talking b******. Nothing got done.

“I was there on my own and the missus come out and she said, ‘This is embarrassing’. They come inside giving it the biggun, none of them did a thing.

“None of them had the b****** to put a finger on me. I begged them to do it. I begged them all to do it.”

Clarke and Danni-Leigh have been in a relationship for several years and have recently celebrated the arrival of their third child. The beauty clinic owner will be cheering on Clarke as he gears up for his third bid to claim the British crown.

The bout was originally scheduled for last month but was postponed after Tshikeva, who goes by TKV, suffered an injury. There has been a respectful build-up between the two fighters, in stark contrast to what might have transpired had Clarke been lined up against former champion Adeleye.

“This isn’t the typical heavyweight contest,” Clarke said to BBC Sport. “There will be no chairs thrown, no tables thrown, there doesn’t need to be slang between us.

“This is two men, dedicated to the craft, who love the sport and are willing to compete to be the best in Britain as a heavyweight.”

TKV echoed his rival’s sentiments and is relishing the prospect of battling it out on the BBC. The occasion stems from the broadcaster’s multi-year agreement with boxing promoter Boxxer.

“Not many people realise how big this moment is, not only for Boxxer, BBC, me and Frazer but it’s big for British boxing in general,” TKV said. “Me and Frazer are going to make history.”

Clarke will be desperate to finally secure the British belt and add another win to his 9-1-1 record. Meanwhile, TKV will be determined to demonstrate that he has returned to peak form following his disputed defeat to Adeleye in May.
