Family favourite Butlins is known for its appeal to everyone, but some of its adult-only events have been raising eyebrows as kinky folks get up to no good fun at the holiday camp
A woman has unveiled just what goes on at a Butlin’s adult-only getaway. Those looking for a break from the kids could be getting more than they bargained for as they get up to no good.
Butlin’s is a resort on Britain’s east coast and has been a firm family favourite for decades. The holiday destination appeals to the whole family, with a range of activities to keep kids and adults entertained.
But recently, the resort has been opening itself up to adult-exclusive holidays, with families being able to give up the kids for a fun weekend away. But what many may not know is that there is something a little more seedy going on beneath the veneer.
A reporter from the Daily Mail was invited to a so-called “pre-meet” with a group of swingers at the holiday resort, where those who are up for a bit of raunchy romping meet up beforehand. The event is held fully clothed, right before things start to get hot and steamy.
Butlin’s has now become an alleged hotspot for swingers, with at least 35 different forums chatting about attending the “Adult Weekender” for some naughty fun. And they are not just oldies who are getting in on the fun, as raunchy ravers as young as 34 are taking part in the antics.
Amie Southwell and her husband Lee have been to swinging events for four years, despite being hitched for 12. After having checked out a slew of swinging clubs across the country, they have found the raunchy fun in Bognor Regis is far and away the most seedy, and they love every bit of it, going every single day.
According to their experience, the days start off slowly with fancy dress options, easy games such as darts and beer pong, with a little break in the afternoon. But in the evening, things get a lot more steamy.
“One night we had about 20 people spread out over two bedrooms with the adjoining door open between rooms,” Amie explained. “We don’t really get many people just watching in our group,” she added when asked if there were any simple spectators.
However, while pairs can get all raunchy with each other, Amie insisted that consent was key and are never a “free-for-all”. She added: “It is always strictly vetted — always friends of friends.
“We never just say, ‘Get involved’. Any newbie in the group will have met one couple, likely more, within the group.”
The reporter was only invited to the pre-meet after a strict two-week initiation process, involving headshots and a form of photo ID. Participants are then spotted whilst wearing the universal telltale sign of swinging — an upturned pineapple.
She was later floored at the amount of people invited to the pre-meet and the family fave, with about 20% of the participants of the party dedicating themselves to the art of swinging. Butlin’s, however, is not impressed, and has insisted that it aims to stamp out any instances of potentially unsafe interactions between guests.
When asked on what her own thoughts on the event were, the reporter wrote: “Naturally, I won’t be swinging and so it’s the dance floor only for me. I may be in a lurid 1980s shell suit, sweatbands and spectacular mullet wig but the dress code is so out there I don’t look remotely out of place.”
