England football legend Gary Lineker was forced to comment after a video shared by far-right activist Tommy Robinson clocked up more than six million views on social media
Gary Lineker has hit back at Tommy Robinson after he was asked to explain what he was doing with a young woman on holiday. The far-right activist shared a video of Gary and a woman walking down a street with the caption, “what you up to here Gary Lineker?”
After the clip was viewed more than six million times, the footballing legend issued a stark response, shutting down Mr Robinson. He said: “If you must know, I was going to a chemist with my daughter-in-law, to get some medicine for her unwell husband….my son. Hatred is a dreadful weakness.”
So-called ‘journalist’ Robinson was roasted in the comment section of the X, formerly Twitter, post. One said: “He’s an ‘investigative journalist’ though apparently.”
Another wrote: “In a world full of Tommy Robinsons – be a Gary Lineker.” While a third simply said: “Absolutely DESTROYED”.
A fourth user wrote: “Tommy Robinson being made to look an absolute berk is exactly the Sunday content that was needed.”
A series of tweets went viral, claiming that Lineker had been in Thailand with the young woman, however they were quickly shut down by community notes, clarifying that Lineker was actually in Mexico and the woman was Bella, the wife of his son Harry.
In the clip, a fan is heard saying: ‘What’s up Gary? How are you doing? Enjoy your holiday.’

It comes as former Neighbours star Holly Valance was spotted alongside far-right campaigner Robinson on several occasions since parting ways from Reform UK treasurer Nick Candy.
The 42-year-old actress and her billionaire former partner, 51, who were once regulars at prestigious gatherings including Princess Eugenie’s wedding, brought their 13-year marriage to an end in June. Holly has since been seen in markedly different company after appearing on a luxury railway journey with Robinson, Reclaim Party chief Laurence Fox and his spouse last month.
An image shared online by ex-actor Fox depicted the mother-of-two and his wife snuggled together on a sofa within one of the train’s opulent compartments. A beaming Robinson can be seen sitting close by, whilst Fox’s caption reads: “It’s a bit early for that..”
In accompanying footage of the group, Holly can be seen enjoying a cup of tea as Robinson addresses viewers: “Good morning everybody. How are we?” Holly also captured a selfie during the journey, with her newfound companions visible in the shot.
According to The Mail on Sunday, associates of the actress – renowned for her portrayal of Flick Scully in Neighbours – are expressing concern that she and Robinson have ‘grown close’, reports the Mirror.
Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has previous convictions including assault, mortgage fraud, using fraudulent documentation and numerous contempt of court charges.
An insider revealed to the Mail, “Plenty of her friends are worried. The question is whether they [Ms Valance and Robinson] are romantically involved. Even if they are not having a romantic relationship, there is the fact that he has all of these convictions against him.”
