Fizzy drinks are already known for their lack of health benefits, but now one heart specialist revealed one drink that he will never be drinking again after it left him shocked
A top cardiologist has revealed what type of fizzy drink he will never be putting to his lips again. Dr. Dmitry Yaranov admitted there was no way he would be drinking “diet” drinks as he issued a stark warning.
The heart doctor is already a well-respected doctor in the medical community and has since become a massive star on TikTok and Instagram, earning a slew of fans and followers and giving advice on how to stay healthy.
But in a recent post, the scientist went viral after revealing just how much he loves — and hates — some of the most popular drinks around. However, he insisted there was one beverage that he would never even look at again, after learning of the dangers of what could happen after drinking it.
Writing in the caption of a video now seen over one million times, Dr. Dmitry said: “After years in cardiology, this is why I don’t touch ‘diet’ drinks anymore. The biggest lie in your fridge? Zero sugar.
“You’ve been told diet sodas are the healthier choice — the ‘better’ option when you’re watching your weight or your blood sugar. But new data say otherwise.”
According to the Daily Mail, he explained that new research found that people who drink some zero-sugar beverages could be at a higher risk of developing liver disease. This means that those who do drink sugary drinks could be less likely to contract the condition and other health issues.
He added: “Let that sink in — the fake sugar hit harder than the real thing. Artificial sweeteners appear to alter gut metabolism and liver fat handling, leading to a 60 percent higher risk of metabolic liver disease.”
Dr. Dmitry went on to say that the safest drink to enjoy is water, and means that those who drink water more than anything else will be able to have the least risk of becoming ill. He added that conventionally sugary drinks also has a lower percentage compared to “zero-sugar” beverages, with pop providing a 50% increase in risk.
The figures were published in a new study last month, which focused on 123,788 different British participants without liver disease. The study was conducted by getting participants to give updates on what drinks they had enjoyed in 24-hour increments.
This is not the first time that Dr. Dmitry went viral on social media, however, after he exposed the harrowing truth around being healthy and young on the likes of Instagram. Specifically, he hit out at models who look “shredded” on the outside, but this could cause problems on the inside.
He admitted that one of the patients he is treating is built “like a statue”, appearing to look absolutely hench thanks to their muscles. But on the inside, it’s a different story, as “high-protein” fads have drastically impacted their health.
The likes of viral diets such as the carnivore diet, which only leaves the likes of meat, eggs and other animal products, have caused major damage to many people’s cardiovascular system, according to the doctor. He explained that these regimes can mean cholesterol could skyrockets to dangerous levels and causing further problems down the line.
