Justin Herbert set to have surgical procedure after breaking bone in his hand in main blow for LA Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is headed for hand surgery after suffering a potentially significant injury in Sunday’s win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Remarkably, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh left the door open for a quick return, telling reporters he doesn’t know if Herbert will miss any time after hurting a finger on his non-throwing left hand in the first quarter.

Harbaugh described the injury as a hand fracture and the procedure is scheduled for Monday.

CBS cameras caught Herbert’s crooked left ring finger as he ran to the locker room at SoFi Stadium.

When he returned, Herbert had a glove protecting his left hand.
