A crash has caused traffic hell for commuters on the M25 this morning. Two lanes have been shut on the M25 anticlockwise between junctions J17 and J16. Surrounding junctions are also suffering from heavy congestion, with significant delays on the M25 anticlockwise entry slip at junction J19 and between junctions 21 and 16.

National Highways reported before 7am that there were delays of 90 minutes compared to normal traffic flow. On the M25 motorway, travelling anti-clockwise, lanes 3 and 4 out of the 4 available remain shut between Junction 17 at Rickmansworth and Junction 16 for the M40.

The closure is the result of a multi-vehicle collision in that stretch of road, which has led to significant disruption. Traffic is being funneled into the remaining open lanes, causing delays and congestion in the area while emergency services and recovery teams manage the incident.
