Roy Keane made a hilarious light-hearted joke that Ian Wright would be awarded a knighthood after helping Laura Woods when she suddenly collapsed on ITV.

Wright has reassured fans that Woods is “fine” after she suffered a health scare live on TV during England’s friendly match against Ghana on Tuesday night. Woods was presenting the ITV4 broadcast in Southampton when she unexpectedly fell forward.

Woods was caught by Wright and Anita Asante before the cameras swiftly cut away. The audio continued for a moment, capturing Wright checking if Woods was alright before an advert break ensued. Woods later updated her followers about her condition on Instagram. “Gosh that was a bit weird,” she posted.

“Sorry to worry everyone, I’m Ok, the wonderful paramedics at Saints have said it’s probably a virus, just need a bit of rest and rehydration.

“I’m really embarrassed that happened on TV, but a big thank you to my colleagues at ITV who have really looked after me tonight. And to Wrighty and Neets for catching me, and sorry again x.”

Wright gave another positive update on Woods’ health on the Stick to Football podcast. Before the football discussion began, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville both asked about the 38-year-old’s wellbeing from the former Arsenal and England striker.

“She’s fine, I got a message this morning,” he confirmed. “It was worrying last night, but she’s fine.”

Jill Scott added: “She put a message around saying they think she has a virus, bless her. Must be horrible when that happens on TV.”

Keane then lightened the mood, quipping: “Not the first woman to fall into your arms Ian?” Wright, trying to hide his smile, responded: “I can’t do anything around this guy!”

The Manchester United legend then chimed in: “You’ll get a knighthood for that or something! You’ll get an award or something!” leaving the studio laughing, with Neville saying: “That’s what Laura would want, she’d want us to laugh!”

Keane also added: “She’s good, that’s the most important thing obviously”.

Woods endured another health scare last year when she was forced to pull out of presenting the Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk bout following a bizarre accident that left her with severe injuries. Taking to social media, she revealed she had sustained an injury whilst on holiday with fiancé Adam Collard.

She posted on Instagram: “Just wanted to explain my absence from the telly for a little while, to be totally transparent and avoid any speculation.

“I had an accident last weekend at a holiday cottage. I swung a pillow and hit a large, glass lampshade hanging from the ceiling above me, which shattered and cut my face and arms, but luckily missed my eye.

“I wanted to say a couple of thank yous, firstly to Adam, for being my hero that day, acting so quickly and not leaving my side since and to his family for taking care of me in a time when I was petrified.

“To my agents Alex Maguire and Matthew Odonohue at CAA who searched for the best help immediately. To Dr Yannis Alexandrides and his wonderful medical assistant Zuzanna at 111 who opened their emergency surgery and came in on their days off, they were so gentle and have already worked magic that I didn’t think was possible to reduce the damage.”
