Finding the right bra can be a challenge in itself. However, here’s the latest challenge – have you been wearing one right? Let’s hear from lingerie experts Pour Moi
All you need to know about wearing your bra wrong – as this mistake is hugely common
- Women have apparently been wearing their bras wrong after consistently committing one mistake, according to one leading lingerie expert.
- Pour Moi discovered that “nearly half (48%) of UK women wear their new bra on the tightest hook first” – which is actually a common mistake that could “cut two-thirds off its intended lifespan.”
- Top Lingerie Buyer Emma Woodrow recommended that bra-wearers should start with the loosest hook first so the band can naturally stretch over time.
- She shared that a typical bra has three hooks and an average lifespan of around six to 12 months. This means that each hook as around four months of wear as the band stretches.
- However, those starting with the tightest hook first are making a mistake that could provide only a third of the intended support duration.
- This means you’ll have to replace your bra even quicker.
- Pour Moi’s Emma shared her five top tips to ensure the appropriate fit: Checking the band for a snug fit, adjust the straps to fit comfortably, position breasts correctly in the cups, ensure the gore lies flat and book a professional bra fitting.
