A car has crashed into the central reservation of the M6 between junctions 4a for the M42 and 5 for Castle Bromwich, Castle Vale and Sutton Coldfield, traffic agencies have reported
A collision on the M6 near Birmingham has led to lane closures and significant delays. The accident occurred on the northbound carriageway of the motorway, between junctions 4a for the M42 and 5 for Castle Bromwich, Castle Vale and Sutton Coldfield.
An overturned car is currently positioned by the central reservation. Three out of the four lanes on the motorway have been closed off. Motorists are facing delays of nearly an hour, reports Birmingham Live.
National Highways West Midlands has reported: “Due to an overturned vehicle, lanes 3 and 4 of (4) are closed on the M6 north near Birmingham between J4A (M42 link) and J5 (Castle Bromwich).
“All emergency services and Traffic Officers are working at the scene with recovery arranged and en route. There are 55 minute delays.”
Nartional Highways has confirmed that the crash took place on the M6 between junctions 4a and 5 at around 6.15am on Friday (December 5). There are believed to have been two cars involved in the crash and two people have been injured.
The tailbacks are four miles long leading to delays of almost an hour.
A snapshot of the traffic situation from the Google Traffic map, shows thick red lines, meaning slow-moving traffic along two motorways. There is heavy traffic on the nourhbound carriageway, beyond junction 4a of the M6 where the M42 meets it.
That is now continuing towards Birmingham Airport and the NEC. on the M42. And also back along the M6 into Warwickshire.
