Everything you need to know as England were drawn in Group L of the World Cup while Scotland were handed a tough group with Brazil and Morocco

  • The group stage draw for the 2026 World Cup was recently conducted at the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC. This event determined the initial opponents for all qualified teams heading into the tournament in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
  • England learned they were placed in Group L, where they will compete against Croatia, Panama, and Ghana. The Three Lions will begin their campaign on June 17, with their first match scheduled to take place in either Dallas or Toronto.
  • Scotland were handed a difficult draw as part of Group C, which includes football powerhouse Brazil alongside Morocco and Haiti. The Tartan Army is making a return to the global stage after their heroic qualification campaign.
  • Other British teams, Wales and Northern Ireland, must first win a tough European Play-Off Path A to qualify for the main tournament. If successful, the winner of that play-off will join Canada, Qatar, and Switzerland in Group B.
  • The draw also highlighted some major matchups, including Senegal and France meeting in Group I, mirroring their 2002 opening game clash. Another notable pairing is Mexico and South Africa, who will open the tournament for their group as they did in 2010.
