A man accused of raping a disabled woman suffered a horrific death at the hands of vengeful villagers, who not only cut off his manhood but ‘chopped it up’
An Indonesian man has met a gruesome death at the hands of his neighbours, who cut off and sliced up his manhood after the violent rape of a disabled woman.
The 47-year-old, known as Ali, was beaten to death and then had his corpse paraded through the streets after he allegedly attacked the woman, leaving her severely beaten and traumatised, on November 30.
A villager called Enal said the mob had mutilated the alleged rapist in horror at the crime. “His penis was cut off and chopped up,” said Enal. “Ali is indeed a disturbing person. He had also been in prison and is a frequent thief. He even recently stole a laptop from his neighbour’s house. He will not be missed by anyone.”
After the discovery of the rape victim, called ‘T’ in reports, Ali reportedly fled to a relative’s house to escape street justice. He then hid in a nearby forest to evade furious villagers, local media reported. But on December 3, he snuck out of the woods in search of food and met a terrible death.
Bystanders instantly spotted the alleged rapist, reportedly notorious for terrorising the area with thefts, and proceeded to lynch him using sticks, stones, and machetes.
Horrifying footage shows the mob savagely beating Ali, whose hands and feet were bound with rope, while hundreds marched through villages recording it all on their phones.
“Residents had been looking for Ali after committing this heinous act against a disabled woman,” said Enal.
“He hid in one of his relatives’ homes, then moved to a forest area in Rappolemba village. When he was caught on the border of Rappoala and Rappolemba villages, his penis was cut off and chopped up.”
The vigilantes gruesomely paraded his lifeless body past houses. A convoy of motorcycles was seen dragging his body along a road as residents cheered.
Senior Adjunct Commissioner Muhammad Aldy Sulaeman, Chief of Gowa Police, confirmed that officers rushed to Rappolemba Village to control the mob.
“We can confirm that several videos have circulated regarding an alleged assault against an individual,” he said.
“In relation to this incident, we have liaised with the Tompobulu Police. Based on the reports we received, the situation at the location is now under control. We don’t want to underestimate the situation, and we are making checks and increasing security measures to keep the situation under control.”
He added that information indicates the dead man was suspected of rape but the police would continue to investigate to determine the exact chronology.
