Championship match deserted after simply 12 minutes as a result of medical emergency

The match between Charlton Athletic and Portsmouth was abandoned due to a medical emergency in the stands, leading to both teams being escorted off the pitch.

Both sides entered the game at The Valley with hopes of securing a win to boost their positions in the Championship table. However, after just 12 minutes of play, the game was stopped due to a medical incident in the Covered End.

A medical team swiftly attended to the fan, who received treatment for several minutes. The players were eventually asked to leave the pitch as the distressing situation unfolded amongst the spectators. After an additional four minutes of treatment, the supporter was stretchered away by paramedics.

Hinton, who also had a successful stint with Chelsea, making 344 appearances and winning three trophies, passed away earlier this week at the age of 85.
