Thomas Markle, 81, made his emotional plea as he lay in a hospital bed after having his left leg amputated due to a blood clot. He said he was “confused” by reports that Meghan had contacted him
Meghan Markle’s hospital-bound dad has begged her to see him “one more time before I die”.
Thomas made his plea after having his left leg amputated below the knee due to a blood clot. One of his doctors said the op was a matter of “life or death”.
Thomas, 81, also wants to see grandchildren Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, who he has never met, “before it’s too late”. He said: “I have never stopped loving her. I don’t want to die estranged from Meghan. I want to meet my grandkids. It might be nice to meet her husband too.”
Thomas and Meghan, 44, haven’t spoken since 2018 when a rift was sparked after he staged paparazzi pics in the run-up to her wedding to Prince Harry.
A spokesman for Meghan said she’d “reached out” to her dad and it’s claimed she sought help identifying the hospital he’s in.
But a source at the hospital, in the Philippines, said: “As we are aware, it didn’t happen.”
The news of Thomas’ surgery was announced by his son, Thomas Jr, who claimed that the surgery was a case of “life or death”.
“My dad is being very brave,” Thomas Jr said.
“His foot turned blue and then black. It happened very quickly.
“I took him to a local hospital and they did some scans and an ultrasound and said the leg had to be amputated.”
He said his dad’s life “was in imminent danger”.
Thomas’s daughter Samantha, 61, said earlier this week that she believed the strain of the last few years had taken its toll on her father and added to his fragility.
She said: “He is a strong man, but he has been through so much. I am praying that his is strong enough to survive this. My father has been through two heart attacks, a stroke and an earthquake. I hope he can pull through this.”
