Mohamed Salah has plunged his Liverpool future into doubt and suggested next Saturday’s game against Brighton could be his last for the club
Mohamed Salah took aim at Jamie Carragher as he cast doubt on his Liverpool future in an explosive interview. The forward was an unused substitute in Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United – the third straight game the Egypt forward has started on the bench.
And following the game at Elland Road, he revealed the club had thrown him under the bus, his relationship with Arne Slot had broken down and that someone doesn’t want him at the club. Asked about Saudi Pro League interest, the 33-year-old said: “In football you never know. I don’t accept this situation. I have done so much for this club.
“I don’t want to answer this question [about Saudi], because the club is going to take me to a different direction.
“After what I have done for the club, it really hurts. You can imagine, really. After going from home to the club and you don’t know if you are starting. I know the club too well, I have been here many years. Tomorrow [Jamie] Carragher is going to go for me again and again and that’s fine.”
The reference to Carragher comes after the Kop icon called out Salah’s leadership and accused him of only speaking “when he needs a new contract or wins man of the match” following the Reds’ 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

“After the Forest game, Virgil van Dijk has come out and spoken, as he should do as the captain,” Carragher said on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
“On the back of all these Liverpool defeats, it’s always Van Dijk who comes out and speaks. The captain should do that but there should be other players in that dressing room and speaking for the club.
“A year ago this weekend, Mo Salah wasn’t shy in speaking about his own situation and the club not offering him a contract. I only ever hear Salah speak when he gets man of the match or when he needs a new contract.
“I would like to see Salah as one of the leaders and legends of Liverpool come out and speak for the team.”
Salah has scored five goals and registered three assists in 18 appearances so far this season but has failed to live up to his usual standards. And Carragher claimed before Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over West Ham United last weekend that Salah’s legs have gone.
He said: “The catalyst for Liverpool at the very start of the run in 2018 with Jurgen Klopp was Alisson, [Virgil] van Dijk, and Salah.
“Alisson’s injured a lot now, he doesn’t play so much. But you watch Van Dijk now, not the same player, and Mo Salah looks like his legs have gone.”
