Emergency services were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Dorset on Sunday evening, where a man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Police are now appealing for witnesses
Two people have tragically lost their lives in a single-vehicle collision close to a National Trust location.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the crash on the B3083 Blandford Road, near the Badbury Rings National Trust site in Dorset, at approximately 9.53pm on Sunday (December 7). The car’s occupants, a woman in her 50s and a man in his 30s, were declared dead at the scene, with police confirming that their families have been notified.
Road closures were implemented, with SomersetLive reporting that motorists were advised that officers were conducting a thorough investigation of the area. Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the two people who sadly died at this extremely difficult time.
“We are continuing to make enquiries as we seek to establish the full circumstances of this incident.”, reports Somerset Live.
“I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact with us. I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area around the relevant timeframe to please review any dashcam footage to see if they have captured anything to assist our investigation.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures. These are necessary to allow the emergency services to respond and for a detailed examination of the scene, as well as searches, to be carried out.”
The B3082 was closed off until this morning (Monday, December 8) while officers conducted a thorough search of the area and initiated an investigation. Dorset Police are now urging anyone with dashcam footage or any information that could aid their investigation to come forward.
