The overwhelming majority of British children fear that Santa won’t be able to visit their home this year because there’s way easy way for the great man to access the property
British children are worried that Father Christmas won’t drop by this year because modern homes aren’t Santa friendly.
New research found 85% of children question how St Nick drops off stockings stuffed with presents when there is no obvious way in and out of the house.
One in four children worry about not having a chimney for Santa to come down while 33% fear security systems will mean they’ll miss out.
To ease these concerns 79% resort to staging scenes featuring everything from special keys to snowy bootprints to keep the magic of Santa alive, while 73% have turned to tech to help out.
Research by British Gas also found that parents are hugely stressed at Christmas with 82% feeling under pressure to make the festive season flawless.
It’s no surprise that 99% of mums and dads rate reliable help at Christmas as essential, especially as 24% of families have experienced heating failures, 10% have been left without hot water and nearly a fifth have faced electrical problems over the festive period.
With so many families facing stresses and strains at this time of year, British Gas is stepping in with a little extra help.
This year the company is launching its Same Day Santa service, where anyone calling before 11am will have support that day, and a little extra festive joy.
Father Christmas will join engineers on some of their festive rounds, arriving with a special gift box containing a Things plush toy and a Santa Kit to keep the magic alive.
Santa, who has been closely following the situation from the North Pole, said: “Lots of children are worried about chimneys, alarms and locked doors these days, but nothing stops Santa.
“With a little help from my friends at British Gas, we will be popping up on doorsteps across the UK to keep the Christmas magic shining bright.”
Parents simply need to drop a line to the team, and a selection of families will be visited by the Santa Squad
Hannah Folley, a British Gas engineer said: “Christmas should feel magical, not stressful. Parents are under huge pressure, from keeping homes running to keeping the excitement alive for their children.
“The Same Day Santa Service is our way of spreading a little extra joy, while our engineers remain on standby to keep homes warm, safe and working throughout the holidays.”
