A British couple’s Mallorca wedding ended in court after they demanded a full refund for “emotional distress” when their DJ failed to play Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”
A bewildered newly wed couple demanded a full refund and extra cash after their DJ supposedly ruined their ceremony. The DJ reportedly failed to play one of Frank Sinatra’s most iconic songs, as per the bride and groom’s request.
Adding to the list of grievances, food portions were ridiculously small, according to the couple, who consequently sued their wedding organiser. Nevertheless, their complaints have been called “completely” disproportionate”.
A British couple’s dream wedding in Mallorca, Spain, ended in a courtroom battle after they demanded a full refund and €1,500 (£1,280) in emotional damages. The alleged distress was reportedly ignited by the DJ, who didn’t play Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”.
The newlyweds, who tied the knot on the popular island in July 2022, claimed the event was a total disaster, moaning about “ridiculous” food portions, missing chairs for witnesses, a pre-sliced cake, and dodgy air conditioning.
Despite trying to get justice, a Spanish judge branded the fuming couple’s complaints “completely disproportionate”, the Majorca Daily Bulletin reported. Moreover, the court in Palma heard that the couple themselves had hired the DJ, and there was zero evidence, on WhatsApp or otherwise, that they had ever asked for Sinatra’s music.
Photos of the wedding dinner, featuring cod, beef with posh mash, and panna cotta, were shown in court, with the judge declaring the feast “more than enough” adding the dishes “exceeded the average expectations for a wedding banquet”, as per the Majorca Daily Bulletin.
As for the alleged missing chairs and cake, the judge pointed out these weren’t even mentioned in the contract.
The couple also reportedly tried to claim the bride suffered an anxiety attack when the party was forced to end at 3am.
However, the court found no proof, according to local news outlets.
In the end, almost all of their compensation claim was thrown out, with the judge ruling that not playing Sinatra was hardly grounds for a wedding refund.
In other wedding scandalous news, a Berlin pastor recently sparked outrage after blessing a polyamorous wedding ceremony for four men at a “pop-up wedding festival”.
She called the ceremony a “marriage in the eyes of God”. While critics slammed the event and accused the church of polygamy, the pastor and her church stood firm, insisting the ceremony was not legally binding and defending the right of consenting adults to love as they choose/
