Travis Kelce did not give himself a pass for the Kansas City Chiefs’ disastrous Week 13 loss to the Houston Texans.
Speaking to brother Jason on their podcast, New Heights, the Chiefs tight end blasted his own performance, which included just one catch for eight yards on five targets.
Worst of all, Travis’ critical fourth-quarter drop was intercepted by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair, effectively sealing the defeat.
‘It’s been a tough f***ing go around for the past two days,’ the 36-year-old Travis said. ‘You put in all this f***ing work in hopes that it pays off and right now, just for whatever f***ing reason, man, it’s little things, it’s, I don’t know, discipline.
‘I keep thinking if I show up to work and I put in the work and I fix the issues through my practice habits and through perfecting the game plan and my fundamentals and what I’m being taught and go out there and try and play my a** off for my guys next to me, it’s it’s all going to come together like it has in years past and this year is just not, man,’ he added.
This week’s episode of New Heights marked the first time Travis addressed the loss after skipping his post-game media obligations after the 20-10 defeat to Houston at Arrowhead Stadium.

Kansas City is now 6-7 and will need to win its final four games and get some help from the rest of the AFC to reach the playoffs for an 11th consecutive season.
Jason, a Super Bowl-winning center with the Philadelphia Eagles, then made the uncomfortable acknowledgement that the Chiefs’ dynasty could be fading.
‘This was the first time in, what, nine seasons you guys aren’t going to win the AFC West or whatever it is since 2015?’ the elder brother asked his younger sibling. ‘You know I think sometimes the ball just doesn’t fall your way and you guys have had the epitome of that this year.’
Jason also offered some encouragement, telling Jason the fourth-quarter drop came on a difficult throw from Patrick Mahomes, but Travis wasn’t really in the mood for kind words.
Instead, he pivoted to the Chiefs Week 14 matchup with the 9-4 Los Angeles Chargers.
‘We got four games left and [I’ll] go put my f***ing heart on the line for these guys because they deserve that,’ Travis continued. ‘Chiefs Kingdom, you guys deserve that. And we’re going to keep this thing f***ing rolling, man.’
