Man, 44, who drowned his spouse in scorching tub of their again backyard is convicted of homicide

A man who drowned his wife in a hot tub in their back garden has been found guilty of murder.

Andrew Georgiou, 44, held his wife Carol, 42, underwater until she lost consciousness in Milton Keynes on November 2 last year.

He then proceeded to call 999, claiming he had found Carol unresponsive, 40 minutes after the attack.

Georgiou on Tuesday pleaded guilty to one count of murder during a hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court.

The case was described as ‘tragic’ by Thames Valley Police. 

Detective Inspector Michael Roddy added: ‘My thoughts and the thoughts of Thames Valley Police remain with Carol Georgiou’s loved ones at this difficult time.’

Following Carol’s death, her family released a statement.

They said: ‘On November 2, 2024, we tragically lost our beloved Carol.

‘Carol was known for her kind heart, infectious smile, and willingness to help others’, her family said in a statement

‘A wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, and mother.

‘Carol was known for her kind heart, infectious smile, and willingness to help others.

‘She cherished her role as a mother to her sons and brought joy and laughter wherever she went.’

Andrew Georgiou will be sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on March 9, 2026.
