A mysterious string of lights streaking across the night sky has baffled residents throughout Yorkshire – with some even claiming it could be Santa. The peculiar formation, displaying a sequence of bright dots stretching high above, was spotted on Tuesday evening (December 9), reports Yorkshire Live.

Many people across East Yorkshire and West Yorkshire captured images of the phenomenon and shared them online, desperately seeking answers about what they’d witnessed. One bewildered witness posted on Hull Traffic and Travel: “Not traffic related, unless you fly… but saw lights over Ryehill… now question is did anyone else see the lights… I’ve Googled it and apparently could be satellite. At first glance I thought oh look a high crane in field then realised it wasn’t.. Then for maybe 2 seconds no way its Santa… guessing I watch too much of Miracle on 34th Street.

“Anyway hope someone else saw um, if not I feel stupid. Reason I posted this… am totally gobsmacked how low it was.”

A fellow witness replied: “I saw them coming back down a63 to hull moving fast as well I was travelling at speed if they were all individual objects they were moving synchronised. If it was a single object it was very big. Truly baffling, the mind wonders.”

Meanwhile, another puzzled resident shared a clearer photograph in a Golcar Facebook group, simply asking: “What is this? Just seen in Golcar! !” Additional locals posted their own images and speculated the lights might be Starlink satellites.

Starlink satellites can be spotted from the UK following a launch and often create a brilliant chain of lights as they move into their orbital positions. SpaceX deploys these satellites to enhance internet connectivity.

The news comes as we reported how British children are worried that the man in red won’t drop by this year because modern homes aren’t Santa friendly.
