Simon Cowell is the one of the biggest names in the music industry.

The record executive, 66, has helped launch the careers of a number of incredible artists and bands over the years on shows such as X Factor and the Got Talent franchise.

And artist Kamille, 37, real name Camille Angelina Purcell, is someone who has worked very closely with him as a singer-songwriter and record producer.

Kamille – who was one of the music industry professionals that helped Simon create the next big boyband on Netflix‘s Simon Cowell: The Next Act – decided to walk out of her finance job to pursue a career in music.

After writing a number one hit What About Us – which was given to The Saturdays in 2013 –  she ‘hustled her way in’ and was eventually put in contact with Simon.

At that time, the artists she ended up writing songs for were James Arthur, 37, Susan Boyle, 64, and Little Mix, and more recently she’s worked with Fred Again, Jess Glynne, 36, Anne-Marie, 34, and Kylie Minogue, 57.

Kamille, real name Camille Angelina Purcell, has opened up about her relationship/friendship with Simon Cowell after appearing on Simon Cowell: The Next Act

Kamille is one of the music industry professionals that helped Simon create the next big boyband in the new Netflix docu-series

The X Factor hit our screens on ITV in 2004 and ended up airing 445 episodes across 15 series, before wrapping up in 2018

Kamille doesn’t have a bad word to say about the music mogul, who has been known as the ‘harsh’ judge on his shows in the past – and she says is true colours are far softer.

Opening up about their working relationship in an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Kamille explained: ‘I’ve first worked for Simon at X Factor.

‘I worked on X Factor for three years with Simon, kind of behind the scenes as a coach, and just struck up this crazy friendship with him.

‘Actually, one thing I think I really loved that Simon did was, say he’s in a room in a meeting with lots of execs and important people….

‘I’d be in the room, and he would like want to know my opinion, sometimes even over other people’s opinion. He’d be like, “Camille, what do you think?” And he always wants to hear opinions of everyone. I just loved that.

‘So I just stuck with him, and was obsessed with everything he had to say, basically.

‘Then we started working through Syco and I would come and write hits for a lot of his acts. And then that relationship just never went away.

‘We just stayed friends.’

Many do probably wonder what he is like on set – and during our exclusive chat, the record producer revealed all.

When asked what it was like to work with Simon on the brand new docu-series, Kamille joked that he’s ‘troublesome’, ‘funny’ and ‘one of a kind’.

Kamille said: ‘He’s honestly just so troublesome. I can’t express to you, it’s like going to work with that brother that is always just doing something random.

‘He doesn’t even have a phone. I don’t even know how he communicates. You just get random calls on your phone and it’s “Hi Kamille, it’s Simon.” You just can’t explain it.

‘He’s just so funny, and he just rocks up to work, and there’s just a flood of people.

‘That’s how he’s entered the room. It’s like a tornado has arrived, and he’s just brilliant. I think he’s one of a kind. He really, truly is one of a kind.

‘And I think what I love so much is people like that, that are truly talented underneath it all as well. It’s not just a facade, like he is honestly the goat, like some of the things he says and the things he thinks and the ideas.

‘It was his idea to put seven boys in this band, and I think it worked so well.

Kamille said of music mogul Simon: ‘He’s just brilliant. I think he’s one of a kind. He really, truly is one of a kind’

‘And you know, I just sent him last night a song that I wrote with Ed Sheeran for the band, which is incredible.

‘And he said he was listening to it in the car on the way to the premiere [of The Next Act] with Lauren. He said listened to it 100 times.

‘He’s like “This song is incredible.” He’s brilliant. I can’t rave about Simon enough.

‘Honestly, my experience with him, I owe him a lot. I really, really do. He’s amazing.’

Simon Cowell: The Next Act hit Netflix on December 10.

‘Simon Cowell is looking for the next hit boy band. And he’s risking it all to find them. Will these young singers prove he’s still got the Midas touch?,’ the synopsis reads.

The new docu-series follows Simon, wife Lauren Silverman, 48, and music industry professionals put a new boyband together.

Kamille shared how ‘proud’ she is of the entrepreneur.

She told us: ‘I just couldn’t be more proud of Simon, if I’m really honest, because there were moments in the show where he wanted to give up.

Netflix’s synopsis reads: ‘Simon Cowell is looking for the next hit boy band. And he’s risking it all to find them. Will these young singers prove he’s still got the Midas touch?’

‘He wasn’t even sure that was gonna work. There was one day auditions like he felt like no one even turned up. And we were like, it was like, crickets outside.

‘But I’m so, so, so happy and proud of him for pushing forward through it. And in the end, loads of people came, and it turned into what you’re going to see on the show is this incredible, incredible band, and there’s seven of them, which is unreal.

‘London, Liverpool, Dublin, and we auditioned so many boys.

‘I think this is definitely the right fit for the group. They’re incredible.’
