Arne Slot has opened up on his relationship with Mohamed Salah after the Reds beat Brighton 2-0 on Saturday afternoon – with the Egyptian making his return
Arne Slot has admitted there’s “no issue” to resolve between himself and Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian star made his return on Saturday afternoon.
Salah made his return to the pitch as a first half substitute – as Joe Gomez limped off – after he had been dropped following a bombshell interview after a draw with Leeds last week.
And speaking after their 2-0 win, Slot said: “For me, there is no issue to resolve. He is now the same as any player. You talk to your players if you are happy or unhappy with things but there is nothing for me to talk about after what happened against Leeds.
And when asked if Salah had indicated he wants to stay at Liverpool, Slot added: “ I think you already know the answer to that.
“What has been said between the two of us in that conversation stays between us. What you see is what you get to know, that he was in the squad and my first substitution.
“All the other things that have been said in that conversation, I never speak about when I speak to Virgil [van Dijk] or Mo [Salah] or any other player. I never tell you guys what we talk about.”
Salah, meanwhile, snubbed the media in the mixed zone – when he asked if he wanted to stop for an interview, he joked: “Two weeks in a row? No.”
Speaking to Sky Sports about his performance, Slot said: “I think he was a threat. The first ball he touched, he almost made an assist for Mac Allister. He was constantly involved in the fact we had Mo. Pleasing to see but not a surprise.
“It was an easy decision to put him in the squad. I have said many times before what has been said between us will stay between us. We needed him and he assisted to the 2-0 which is nice for us.
“We have been so many times this season on the wrong side of the set-piece battle.
“He goes to the AFCON and that means for us another player down. This is what we knew before the season started. Hopefully one or two players can come back from injury.”
