The Ally Pally wasp looks to have made his final appearance on the PDC World Championships stage after already terrorising Luke Littler earlier in the tournament
The infamous Ally Pally wasp returned to the PDC World Championships stage on Saturday evening, but darts fans are concerned it may have been his final appearance.
The wasp has been terrorising players over the opening three days and for the last 15 years, with world No.1 Luke Littler particularly bothered by it. Following his first round victory over Darius Labanauskas on Thursday, the 18-year-old was speaking to Sky Sports when the wasp flew towards him, only for Littler to expertly dodge it before seamlessly resuming the interview.
The wasp has appeared to some degree in all five sessions so far, but there are concerns he will not be present for the Sunday afternoon session as he might be dead. That is because Ted Evetts was captured flicking it off his collar moments after his defeat to Luke Humphries.
The former waved it goodbye before sharing a handshake and laugh with the former world champion. The short clip of the incident has since gone viral on social media with fans now fearing for the wasps life.

@JackGoode20 added: “Ok so I think ted evetts just killed the ally pally wasp,” before @Adam_Russ89 said: “Ted Evetts doesn’t defeat Humphries BUT he’s defeated the Ally Pally wasp!!!”
However, the wasp has now seemingly been confirmed as alive to the delight of fans after appearing in the final match of Saturday’s session between Gabriel Clemens and Alex Spellman when spotted on the former’s top.
X account @anonymous_darts boldly claimed about the wasp: “He makes it 3 days in a row and survives attempted murder, nobody can break this legends spirit. We are looking at one of the all time greats ladies and gentlemen.”
@MitchMoylan added: “Another night dominated by the Ally Pally Wasp. My hat is off. What an incredible run for the fella. Even survived getting an attempted murder tonight [three clapping emojis].”
While the wasp’s run-in with Littler gathered the most buzz, his appearance in the match between Ross Smith and Andreas Harrysson on Friday was perhaps the most comical.
In the 12th seeds’ shock defeat to Harrysson, the wasp nestled comfortably on Smith’s collar and with his first shot after Sky Sports camera picked out the insect, he hit a 180. Harrysson then also struck a maximum.
Smith actually started playing better while the wasp was on him but he was unable to overcome his opponent. The wasp and Smith have actually had previous with Sky Sports forced to apologise after an incident between the two at the 2023 World Darts Championships.
The 36-year-old had just beaten Niels Zonneveld in the second round when his post-match interview went firmly off scrpit.
“Honestly, I believe…” Smith began before coming to a swift stop as he released the wasp was on his hand. He then said: “There’s the wasp! He’s just done me, he’s just stung me like a good’un. Little ******.”
Having sworn, the next words into the microphone was an apology from the interviewer with Smith also saying sorry while laughing.
