US President Donald Trump is set to make a “mystery” announcement and address the nation from the White House tonight at 10pm ET, just an hour after his last speech, with reporters hastily summoned back.
As per the official White House website, the President is going to make a new announcement. It notes: “Stay tuned – we’ll be live again shortly.”
This comes after Trump vowed in a conference on today (Sunday, December 14) “a lot of damage” in retaliation for the deaths of two US soldiers and a civilian interpreter, who were killed in an ISIS ambush in Syria. Speaking at a White House Christmas reception, Trump told the crowd: “We had three great patriots terminated by bad people, and not the Syrian government, it was ISIS.”
He further noted that two of the three injured Americans have already been released from hospital. The president’s strong words follow his earlier promise of “very serious retaliation” for the attack, which US officials say was carried out by a lone ISIS gunman.
Iowa officials have confirmed the fallen soldiers were members of the state’s National Guard, part of the 1,800 troops deployed to the Middle East since May to support Operation Inherent Resolve.
